Stress, age, and prolonged exposure to sunlight can all lead to wrinkled and creased skin on the face, neck, or forehead as well as fat deposits and folds around the jaws and jowls. These developments can make a person appear more tired, angrier, and much older than he or she actually is. While a facelift can’t stop the aging process, it can, in most cases, “turn back the clock” by creating the appearance of facial rejuvenation.

The Facelift Procedure

Depending on the area that is to be treated, a facelift usually consists of incisions that are made along the hairline and extend around the ears to the lower scalp. The skin is lifted away from the fat and muscle underneath it, and excess fat is carefully removed. Dr. Zubowski then repositions the remaining underlying tissue and skin and secures them with sutures in an upward direction to give the face a more youthful appearance that remains natural-looking.

For patients interested in a total facial rejuvenation, Dr. Zubowski can combine the facelift procedure with other cosmetic surgery procedures such as blepharoplasty and brow lift.

Facelift Recovery

Swelling and minor discomfort lasts a few days after your facelift procedure; stitches are typically removed within a week. Dr. Robert Zubowski’s goal is to have his patients resume most normal activity within 14 days of undergoing the procedure.
