Aging can lead to changes in the neck resulting in various combinations of fat excess, skin laxity and muscle weakness. Depending upon each New Jersey neck lift patient’s aesthetic concerns and desires, Dr. Zubowski can recommend a specific treatment plan to create the most natural results possible.

If your problem is limited to excess fat below the chin and jaw line and your skin tone is good, then liposuction alone can be the answer. Dr. Zubowski will make one or two small incisions on the underside of the chin and/or earlobe and place a small tube called a cannula beneath the skin to remove excess fat and provide a more youthful contour to the neck.

Sagging or “vertical cords” in the neck results from weakening of a thin muscle called the platysma. Platysmaplasty is a procedure that allows Dr. Zubowski to tighten these muscle bands to create a smoother neck contour and better defined jawline. This can be performed alone or in combination with liposuction.

Finally, when there is a large amount of skin in the neck then a full neck lift is generally recommended. Dr. Zubowski will make limited incisions behind the ears and possibly under the chin through which he can tighten the underlying muscle, remove any excess fat and then lift and redrape the skin to provide a smooth and natural contour. Tissue glue is frequently used to adhere the skin, minimize swelling and eliminate the use of drains.
