Facelift Surgery FAQs

Face Lift in New Jersey – Bergen County & Paramus
Facelift Surgery FAQs

The frequently asked questions below are designed to provide an overview of facelift surgery. If you have specific questions about the procedure make sure you consult a plastic surgeon directly.

What the benefits and risks of facelift surgery?

The benefits of facelift surgery are not purely aesthetic. Sure, you’ll have tighter, less visible signs of aging and an overall younger and fresher look, but it can also boost your self-confidence to a level surprising even to yourself. There are risks with any type of surgery including, but not limited to, bleeding, adverse reactions to the anesthesia, and improperly done procedures.

Where will scarring be?

The incisions for most facelifts are either in the hairline or in front of or behind the ear. There is a new procedure where the incisions are actually closed with a laser leading to less scarring. Some of the older techniques involve a running scar from the hairline following the line of the face down to around the ears ending in the lower scalp. Either will barely be noticeable if at all.

When can I go back to work?

You can usually return to work anytime between one to three weeks depending on the severity of your operation.

How long will swelling and bruising last?

There will be swelling and bruising for about two weeks post-operative. Numbness can last up to several weeks. You should see your final results in about one to six months.

Will I ever need a touch-up or are the effects permanent?

The results will, of course, vary from face to face. However, most of these faces can expect to remain so for approximately five to ten years or more.

What other alternatives do I have to the traditional facelift?

Know that you always have an alternative and no Q&A session should take the place of a consultation with your Bergen County / Paramus plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Zubowski. That said, there are numerous things you can do as alternatives.  There are non-surgical procedures such as Thermage treatment, laser facelift, and microcurrent facelifts.  There are also many, many facelift creams and products on the market today.  Look for the ones that contain highly concentrated solutions of amino acids like acetyl hexapeptide and alpha hydroxyl because they are in charge of tightening the skin and reducing those lines.

As a highly educated and thoroughly trained plastic surgeon, Dr. Zubowski offers a full range of procedures for the face, breast, and body. Individuals who often seek his professional advice include New Jersey rhinoplasty, facelift, and body contouring patients. Among the latter individuals, the more popular treatments include liposuction and breast implants surgery in New Jersey.
