The Day of Your Surgery

Your surgery will be performed here at SurgiCenter, in our state-of-the-art operating suite by a team that includes Dr. Zubowski, a board-certified anesthesiologist, a trained operating room technician and a registered nurse.

Upon arriving on the day of your surgery, you will be escorted to the surgery suite, and asked to change into a gown, robe and foot covers. Dr. Zubowski and the anesthesiologist will meet with you before you enter the operating suite for final surgical planning and preparation like drawing on your skin and answering any last minute questions you may have.

In the operating room, the nurse or the anesthesiologist will start an intravenous drip in your arm and connect you to monitoring devices. You will be given medicine via the IV to put you to sleep.

You will be moved to the recovery room after surgery, just as if you were at the hospital. During this period, you will be connected to monitoring equipment and a recovery room nurse that is specially-certified for advanced cardiac life support will remain with you at all times.

Your stay in the recovery room will last 1 to 4 hours, depending on how soon you are ready to leave. Most patients are fully awake 30-60 minutes after surgery, but may not remember much about their stay in the recovery room.

When you are ready to leave, a friend or family member must drive you home and stay with you the first night after surgery because you will be sedated.
